Dubai's Moro Hub and Rafay are teaming up to launch a sovereign GPU Platform-as-a-Service offering (PaaS).

Moro Hub is the digital arm of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, and operates a 100MW solar-powered data center at the Mohammed bin Rashin Al Maktoum solar park. The data center has a floor space of 16,030 sqm (172,565 sq ft).

The data center will house the GPU infrastructure, while the PaaS will be made available via the Rafay Platform. Customers will be able to access the AI infrastructure, as well as generative AI services, and ready-to-use AI application.

It has not been shared how many GPUs will be deployed for the PaaS, or what hardware it will use.

Mohammed Bin Sulaiman, CEO of Moro Hub, and Mohan Atreya, chief product officer in Rafay Systems, signed the agreement for the offering.

“Together with Moro Hub, we’re making it simple for companies in the UAE to build and deploy AI without getting stuck in infrastructure complexity. Teams shouldn’t have to worry about managing AI infrastructure, scaling clusters, or keeping track of the AI investments—they should be focused on creating real value with AI,” added Haseeb Budhani, cofounder and CEO of Rafay.

In 2022, Moro Hub was the largest solar-powered data center in the world according to Guinness World Records. Earlier this year, airline Emirates Group announced it would move its data center to Moro Hub.
