IT vendor Stulz said a survey conducted at the recent Data Center Strategics conference in Sydney shows that roughly 60% of data center managers in Australia plan to increase their infrastructure spend within the next year.

This ties in with our own Datacenter Dynamics research, from Datacenter Dynamics Sydney, which shows that 59 percent of attendees have investment in mind, to the value of AU$550 million for the financial ending June 2010. Datacenter managers expected this to rise to AU$875 million in the financial year ending June 2011.

Of those questioned, 57 percent said they were considering newbuilds, 24 percent re-fits, 12 percent consolidation and 7 percent outsourcing, 20 percent of all respondents said they were doing so because of business requirements.

Stulz said it spoke with 83 data center managers at the event, and most of them said IT spend this year is planned to actually drive down the cost of operations down in the data center. The report showed that a number of data center managers were also being pushed to replace aging systems.
