Data center infrastructure management (DCIM) software provider Modius unveiled a new product for providers of colocation, cloud and managed services Thursday.
OpenData v3.7 Business Intelligence gives providers a granular view into the usage of data center resources, such as power and cooling, by each customer, down to each customer’s individual devices. The solution is aimed at helping providers identify and prevent “revenue leakage” that happens when customers use more power and cooling than they are allotted.
Craig Compiano, CEO of San Francisco-based Modius, said colocation and cloud-services providers needed a unique set of monitors and controls to help them maximize return on investment.
“Modius’ ability to offer these data centers a specific set of analytics to manage their co-location and cloud services clients will help them make the right decisions to directly improve their profitability,” he said.
The product can, for example, generate a report with detailed power-usage data of each customer device over a specified period of time. An individual customer’s devices can be tracked in one or multiple of the provider’s data centers.
OpenData v3.7 can also tell the provider when there is a high probability that a specific customer’s service-level agreements will be violated in an unplanned outage.
The solution’s console displays power and environmental data from a network of heterogeneous facilities, which may include data centers, server closets, call centers or mechanical yards.
