Japanese industrial giant Mitsubishi is launching a new on-premise containerized Edge data center offering focused on AI workloads.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) this week announced the launch of Diavault, a new "industrial-grade Edge data center" brand.

Designed to support local AI utilization, the new on-premise facilities include integrated power and cooling alongside security systems.

The Diavaults can reportedly cover customer needs from “small-scale to inference data centers of several megawatts,” providing solutions including inference environments in manufacturing sites, research facilities, defense-related fields, and 5G connectivity to meet low latency demands.

MHI recently opened a demonstration AI data center on the premises of Yokohama Hardtech Hub (YHH) at the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Yokohama Works.

Reportedly featuring a server room “equivalent to two 20 foot (six meter) containers,” the facility includes GPU servers cooled by two-phase direct chip cooling. The facility is remotely monitored, enabling stable, unmanned operation on-site.

MHI provides data center power and cooling offerings, including generators, chillers, and management systems. The company previously launched a small liquid-cooled containerized data center in 2023.
