Michigan-based Internet Service Provider (ISP) 123Net has expanded its data center in Detroit.

“Big News! 123Net has completed a major expansion of its Southfield DC1 Data Center, adding 4MW of new power, advanced colocation space, and direct access to the Detroit Internet Exchange, the company said this week. “This makes DC1 the only facility in Michigan where massive GPU power meets free peering, cutting network costs and creating the ultimate environment for AI, machine learning, and data-intensive applications.”

Located at 24700 Northwestern Highway in the Southfield area of Detroit, DC1 offers 80,000 sq ft (7,432 sqm) of colocation space. The site has up to 20MW of available utility power. More than 20 carriers are present in the facility.

The expansion reported added colocation space and infrastructure tailored for the demands of AI inference and other data-intensive applications, allowing for liquid-cooled GPUs to be installed.

Founded in 1995, 123Net is a Michigan-based ISP providing data center, network, and voice services. The firm operates a network spanning over 3,100 route miles of fiber across the state. Grain Management took a majority stake in the firm in July 2024.

The company has three other data centers around Detroit, totaling almost 20,000 sq ft (1,858 sqm): DC2 and DC3 are located on the same campus at 24275 and 24245 Northwestern Highway in Southfield, less than a mile from DC1, while DC4 is located in Grand Rapids.
