Meeza and Microsoft have partnered on a sovereign private cloud offering in Qatar.

Based on Azure Local infrastructure, it will be hosted within Meeza's data centers in the country.

Azure Local is an on-prem or Edge offering in which customers put Microsoft hardware in their own data centers, thus creating a sovereign and private cloud solution. Previously, it was for smaller deployments, but it has been expanded this year to enable the possibility for Azure Local to scale up to thousands of servers.

By deploying Azure Local cloud infrastructure in Meeza's data centers, customers will be able to access sovereign and compliant cloud infrastructure within Qatar, supported by Meeza's connectivity, telecommunications, and integrated managed services capabilities. Customers can also connect workloads to Microsoft Azure's public cloud when needed.

For government customers, Meeza will offer a dedicated access route through its connection to the government network without running through the public Internet.

Mohamed Ali Al-Ghaithani, CEO of Meeza, said: “This offering represents an important step in Meeza's commitment to enabling Qatar’s digital transformation and addressing the growing demand for secure and sovereign cloud services. By combining Microsoft Azure technology with Meeza's local infrastructure, connectivity, data center capabilities, and managed services, we can provide customers with a comprehensive cloud environment delivered and managed locally in Qatar.

“Our key differentiator is our ability to bring the entire technology ecosystem together through a single trusted partner. From infrastructure and connectivity to cloud technology, local data residency, security, and ongoing managed services, Meeza can support customers across the complete lifecycle of their cloud environment."

Ahmad El Dandachi, country general manager, Microsoft Qatar, added: “As Qatar accelerates its digital transformation and AI ambitions, organizations need greater choice in how they deploy and operate critical workloads. Microsoft Sovereign Private Cloud, with Azure Local as its infrastructure foundation, brings Azure capabilities into locally operated environments and gives customers greater control over where their infrastructure, workloads and data reside.

“Together with Meeza, we are creating a locally delivered option for organizations in Qatar that need to balance cloud and AI innovation with sovereignty, resilience, security and operational-control requirements. This will provide a trusted foundation for government, regulated-industry and mission-critical workloads, while supporting each organization’s broader hybrid-cloud strategy.”

Meeza operates data centers that it calls M-Vaults, currently operating five facilities in Qatar. In August 2026, Meeza revealed that it had agreed to a QAR 1.6 billion ($438m) credit agreement with Dukhan Bank to fund 44MW in data center projects, split between three facilities: M-Vault 6, M-Vault 7, and M-Vault 8, at least two of which were announced last year.

Last month, Meeza revealed it had secured an 8MW lease with an unnamed global hyperscaler.
