A 24-year-old man reportedly spent several hours atop a cell tower in Tenali, India.
Times of India reports that the man, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, had scaled the structure on Monday, September 8.
The man, named by the Times as Tadigiri Ashok, declared his love for a 14-year-old girl.
Police said Ashok demanded that the girl be brought up to him, or he would remain on top of the tower.
Concerned locals had called the police after their pleas to talk him down had failed.
Ashok remained perched at the top of the tower for nearly three hours, reported the Times, before eventually being persuaded by police to come down.
Once down, police officers restrained Ashok.
There were no reports of any interference on the mobile networks or any damage caused to the telecoms equipment.
