Malayasia's Kulim Hi-tech Park will be the location for a 20,000 sq ft datacenter in phase one of an eventual 100,000 sq ft three phase project.

The park is based in Kedah in Malayasia's northern territory and will host the RM135 million datacenter built by Northern Data Exchange Centre (NDEC). Phase one is scheduled to complete in the third quarter of 2009 with the main second phase (70,000 sq ft) expected to be ready and fully operational by 2010.

The datacenter will be designed, developed, set up and maintained by by NDEC Sdn Bhd and Kulim Technology Park Corp Sdn Bhd (KTPC).NDEC, a Malaysian privately owned technology company designed, constructed and maintains around 200 datacenters in Malaysia.

Hanif Yon, project development director at NDEC, said: "We hope to tap the need for data management, especially among the multinational corporations based at the hi-tech park as well as other northern states and companies under the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle.
