Malaysian property developer NCT Alliance Berhad could sell a 100-acre parcel in its industrial park outside Kuala Lumpur for the construction of an 800MW data center.

The company announced this week that it had signed a term sheet – a preliminary agreement similar to a Letter of Intent or Memorandum of Understanding – with an unknown developer to sell a parcel in the NCT Smart Industrial Park, the company’s industrial and science park located in southern Selangor, around 60km from the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur.

The park is set to span 732 acres and will be developed in five phases.

The company said that the developer would be a “global data center operator,” but further information about their identity was not provided.

NCT Alliance Berhad is a prominent real estate developer in Malaysia. Its portfolio consists of residential properties, hotels, and business and industrial parks.

Most of Malaysia’s data centers are either located in the Klang Valley, a geographic area that includes Kuala Lumpur, the state of Selangor, and the city Putrajaya, and the southernmost peninsular state of Johor.
