The SUNY Board of Trustees have approved the transfer of 21 acres in the Town of Marcy to the Office of General Services, according to a report in a Utica newspaper.
In June, the state legislature approved $99 million to build a data center, which could create over 200 jobs with starting salaries around $50,000. The planned center will consolidate the operations of four separate facilities in the Capital Region.
A spokesman for the governor's office said the state is committed to putting the data center in the Utica area because the Marcy site best fits the criteria for the center.
