Lytron, a thermal management solutions manufacturer based in Woburn, Mass., launched its new coolant distribution unit for data center use with cooling capacity of 150 kW.

The LCS50 delivers controlled-temperature coolant to liquid-cooled racks and carries waste heat to facility water. Condensation risk is averted by coolant being delivered to the equipment at an above-dew point temperature.

Its dimensions allow for in-row placement. The unit is equipped with a programmable controller capable of tracking the amount of time each pump has been running. It also runs periodic tests on the back-up pump. The controller features system-error alerts, lock-out protection, temperature and flow control options and remote-monitoring communication packages.

"Liquid cooling has much greater thermal performance capabilities than air, with water carrying approximately 3,500 times more heat by volume," the firm's statement said. "Therefore, liquid cooling is able to service higher heat densities with much greater efficiency."
