Colt has upgraded its network infrastructure in Spain, adding Points of Presence in Saragoza, Castellon de la Plana, Sevilla and Malaga while improving the speed of its ultra-low latency route from Madrid to Europe’s key financial hubs for high-speed trading.

Colt also recently added a low latency route from Dublin to London offering speeds of 4.267ms.

Regarding general connectivity, Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia were already connected to Colt’s network but Colt said there was demand in other key regional areas for SMEs, carriers and channel partners to be integrated.

Colt EVP Francois Eloy said the move builds on Colt’s establishment of its Barcelona-based Shared Service center, which services 30,000 Colt business customers across Europe, and the expansion of its Ethernet Frist Mile technology rolled out in Spain’s key business areas, which allows 40Mbps connections over copper, complementing existing fiber or traditional DSL connectivity.

Gigamon brings analysis to low latency networks for trading

Gigamon has partnered with Velocimetrics to extend its Traffic Visibility Fabric to include the analysis of business flows including market data, prices, quotes and trades for real-time transaction analysis which can be fed back to the infrastructure operator.

Gigamon said the solution can provide nanosecond-accurate timestamps with seamless network visibility for high traffic IT environments

“By working with Gigamon and integrating with their Traffic Visibility Fabric technology we are able to capture timings closer to the source than we ever have,” Velocimetrics said.

Once traffic is analysed, business flows are correlated and associated with each other to provide a complete ‘tick to trade’ view with comprehensive performance data for every transaction, Gigamon said.
