Trading problems continued at the London Stock Exchange today, with the stock exchange opening late after a glitch it said was caused by a "market data issue".

The exchange reopend its UK cash equity markets for continuous trading at 12:15, following two glitches.

It is less than two weeks since the LSE carried out a migration to a new Suse Linux Novell trading platform, installed by Millennium IT.

The MillenniumIT platform was delayed for three months last year following glitches seen in Turqoise, the exchanges first market to move to the platform in October last year.

The LSE issued a statement today in which is apologized for the downtime.

"We have resolved the real time data dissemination issue and our UK cash equity markets have now resumed trading,"it said.
"To ensure an orderly market, the UK cash equity markets were today paused at 8.03am, and then halted at 8.33am, following identification of a real time data dissemination issue.

"Having identified the source of the problem and gained confidence in the remedial steps needed to restore market connectivity, the LSEG resumed continuous trading across its cash equity markets at 12.15pm, after an auction call."
