Hurleypalmerflatt together with Trox AITCS has won a global award for innovation at the IET's annual Innovation in Engineering Awards.
Hurleypalmerflatt/Trox AITCS won the Built Environment award for developing and deploying cooling cabinets using liquid CO2 to cool data centres. The technology uses liquid CO2 which has seven times the cooling carrying capacity of traditional water systems.
The judges felt that this innovation could be a solution to an IT nightmare of managing heat for continued operation of IT equipment in data centres and could have a huge impact on the future design and layout of data and communications centres.
