The following content is from an older version of this website, and may not display correctly.Harris Corporation, a Melbourne, Fla.-based provider of communications and IT outsourcing services, has selected Lee Technologies to design and build its new data center in the US mid-Atlantic region, according to the contractor's news release.
Lee will retrofit a 140,000 sq ft building Harris bought earlier this year and announced in May. The future Harris Cyber Integration Center, expected to be completed by the year's end, will provide integrated infrastructure, managed security and tailored application and services. The companies did not disclose exact location of the facility.
"We are pleased to team with Lee Technologies in developing a center that will support our customers with a complete, end-to-end, tailored cyber solution," Harris VP and GM of Cyber Integrated Solutions Dale Meyerrose said in a statement. "This center and its offerings reflect customers' needs to address the ever-increasing importance of security, the maturation of trusted technology and cloud computing, and the continuing need to drive down IT management costs."
The facility is expected to be designed according to requirements of the Uptime Institute's Tier III infrastructure reliability standard and to qualify for the US Green Building Council's Silver rating for sustainable design and construction practices.
Lee designs, builds, operates, monitors and maintains data centers. Some of its biggest clients include Coca Cola, JP Morgan, Northrop Grumman, US Department of Defense, Time Warner and Verizon.
Harris served government and commercial clients. Its public-sector clients include the US Federal Aviation Administration, for whom the company operates telecommunications infrastructure.
