Hitachi's Hubert Yoshida chairs Singapore Data Storage Institute board

Hitachi Data System's vice president and CTO Hubert Yoshida has been appointed as chairman of the scientific advisory board for the Data Storage Institute (DSI) in Singapore as part of its Agency for Science, Technology and Research.

The DSI is focussed heavily on R&D for next-generation technologies, an area Yoshida will drive with the development of technology roadmaps and the earmarking of relevant research programs.

According to Data Storage Institute executive director Dr Pantelis Sophoclis, the appointment secures Yoshida's position as a thought leader in the areas of storage and virtualisation. "Yoshida is an acclaimed storage industry professional whose knowledge and vision are tremendous assets to the Data Storage Institute," he said.

Yoshida has worked in the area of storage and virtualisation for 35 years.

Former Equalogic CEO joins Virtensys

The former founder and CEO of Equalogic before Dell took it over in 2008 has joined the board of directors at i/o virtualization company Virtensys.
Peter Hayden will drive the Virtensys market strategy for its switches.

Before Equalogic, Hayden held engineering and management positions at Bell Labs and Digital Equipment Corporation.

Dell marketing manager joins SNIA board

The manager for storage solutions and marketing EMEA at Dell, Ann Karolin Thueland, has joined SNIA Europe's board of directors.
Thueland previously held managing and marketing positions at HP, Fujitsu and Compaq. She will now lead SNIA's end user education initiatives and related channel-focussed activities.
