Los Angeles data center provider Multacom has found itself embroiled in a lawsuit, with a property owner claiming it owes upwards of $400,000 in unpaid fees.

As reported by LowEndBox, the case pertains to the Aon Center located at 707 Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles, where Multacom operates a data center.

Site owners Carolwood allege in the complaint filed last month that Multacom, as of April 1, 2026, has failed to pay "base rent, additional rent, utility charges, CAM charges, and taxes due under the Lease and First Amendment in the amount of $401,128.25."

According to the lawsuit, Multacom has a rentable area on the fourth floor spanning 9,800 sq ft (910 sqm). Multacom was itself acquired by Australian Edge operator Edge Centres in July 2023.

Speaking to DCD, Edge Centres founder and CEO Jonathon Eaves said of the lawsuit: "Our landlord, in September, installed a new power meter in one of our three data centers in the LA building, and there was a 600 percent increase in power usage across one meter, which has been in dispute since November last year when we got our first ridiculous power bill."

He continued: "That's what the amount actually is for, it's nothing more than a disputed power bill ... It's just the landlord reserving his rights to claim that amount."

Known as the Aon Center and owned by real estate brokerage Carolwood since December 2023, the 62-story office skyscraper at 707 Wilshire Boulevard was built in the early 1970s. The entire building totals around 1.1 million sq ft (102,200 sqm). Founded in 1997, Multacom offers hosting services from three halls across the fourth floor of 707.

Known customers of Multacom at the site include downstream hosting companies, including RackNerd, CloudCone, and HostNamaste.

Earlier this week, RackNerd revealed that it was working on a large-scale migration out of Multacom's data center, telling customers in an email that this was due to "circumstances outside of our control, and continuing to operate infrastructure there is no longer a viable long-term option."

Multacom/Edge Centres, according to its website, also has data centers located in St Louis, Missouri; Reston, Virginia; and Queensland, Australia.
