Kenneth Brill, winner of this year's Outstanding Contribution to Industry Award at the Datacentre Awards, has written a column on Forbes.com outlining some of the issues that he sees with Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) as an efficiency measurement.

Under the headline "Measuring Data Center Energy Flow", Ken says that PUE is useful to data center managers for overall performance of a data center's electrical and mechanical systems but says the results "can be misconstrued" and warns against marketing claims surrounding PUE numbers.
