After a short stint as CEO of the public- and private-cloud service provider GoGrid, Warren  Heffelfinger is out as the chief executive. The company’s founder John Keagy will return to his former role as CEO to replace him, GoGrid announced Thursday.

In its release, GoGrid did not explain why Heffelfinger, a founding board member, would be stepping down. The company’s representatives did not return a request for comment in time for publication.

He was appointed to the position in June 2011. At the time, GoGrid framed the appointment as addressing the need for an experienced professional executive, touting Heffelfinger’s 20 years of executive and operating experience.

To make way for Heffelfinger in 2011, Keagy stepped aside to serve as the executive chairman. He is returning to his former role, sights set to expand the San Francisco-based cloud company’s international presence.

“With the successful launch of our new EMEA headquarters and data center in Amsterdam, we're well on the way to fulfilling our long-term vision of bringing the GoGrid cloud to all major markets worldwide,” Keagy said.

The company announced the launch of its Amsterdam data center January. GoGrid uses commercial colocation facilities to host its infrastructure.
