South African colocation provider Teraco Data Environments announced Monday that it had raised $6 million in Series-B financing, consisting of equity and loans.

South African private equity group Treacle Private Equity - which also participated in the first round of financing - provided 65 percent of the funding this time around, according to a Teraco statement.

All Series-A investors also participated in the second round with one new participant: Guy Willner, who co-founded and lead IXEurope, now Equinix Europe. Willner recently joined Teraco's board of directors.

Funding from the second round will pay for development of the company's Isando data center in the east portion of Johannesburg. Teraco plans to expand the facility - through several phases - to a total area of about 38,000 square meters.
