IT services company Gorilla has signed a $1.4 billion contract with Singaporean cloud provider Freyr.

Announced on September 17, the three-year contract sees the pair develop AI-optimized data centers in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, with a $300 million initial deployment set to launch in Q4 2025. The option for a two-year extension is available.

Statements of Work, Service Level Agreements, and GPU infrastructure deployment schedules have yet to be finalized, but site selection and systems integration are currently underway.

London-based Gorilla Technology Group provides IT solutions for a variety of public and private users, with a specific expertise in smart city development programs. This includes products which use AI for video surveillance, facial recognition, and license plate recognition. The deal with Freyr represents its first foray into Asia.

Freyr offers a GPUaaS – all of which utilize Nvidia products – and bare-metal leasing.

Gorilla will serve as principal operator and infrastructure lead, utilizing local colo facilities and Freyr’s “proprietary AI stack, including GPUaaS infrastructure, orchestration software, and real-time monitoring systems.”

CEO of Freyr Cary Liu added that the two were targeting data center opportunities “worth at least $2.5bn over the next couple of years.”

Gorilla Technology Group’s stock soared almost 13 percent yesterday after the announcement.
