Data center provider IO has joined dark fiber provider Superloop’ metropolitan area network in Singapore. The agreement increases IO’s portfolio of network providers, so customers get more reliable, diverse connectivity. It expects to be connected to Superloop’s network by the start of September 2016.

Superloop designs, constructs and operates its own fiber optic network in the region, and has a presence in Australia, Singapore, and Hong Kong. As reported in July last year, it has grown rapidly and already built approximately 130km of network in Singapore, with another 17km is slated for completion by the end of this year.

On the data center front, Superloop already has a point of presence at Global Switch, Equinix SG1, SG2 and SG3, Digital Realty (Jurong), RacksCentral, and Kingsland Data Center. Aside from IO, another eight data center locations are either in the proposal stage or slated to be wired up soon.

“Being part of Superloop’s network is an exciting development for IO. The option to connect key sites together with high availability and secure, private connections are key considerations for our clients,” said Darren Webb, the managing director of IO in Singapore and Southeast Asia. “As a result of this collaboration, we look to deliver improved services and greater value to our customers both locally and regionally.”

“We are very excited to be working with IO to bring their world class data centre onto the Superloop fiber network in Singapore,” said Bevan Slattery, CEO of Superloop. “The route has been designed to provide the most direct and protected (diverse) path possible for IO and their customers.”
