Interxion, an Amsterdam-based provider of data center services across Europe, reported a 13% revenue increase for the fourth quarter of 2012 as well as for the full year.

As many company executives have done in their comments on their companies' performance during the year, Interxion CEO David Ruberg said the data center provider had executed well despite a difficult macro-economic climate.

“We added record amounts of equipped space and revenue generating square meters, while increasing our utilization rate,” he added. “Both revenue and adjusted EBITDA exhibited double digit growth, while positioning ourselves for continued growth into the future.”

Interxion's full-year 2012 revenue was €277.1m – up 13% from 2011. Its full-year net profit was €31.6m – up from the 2011 profit of €25.6m.

The provider's revenue for the fourth quarter was €72.9m – up 13% year over year. Its net profit for the quarter was €5.6m – down from €10.6m it reported for the fourth quarter of 2011.

Interxion said its quarterly operating profit was impacted negatively by a lease expense of €0.8m the company had not previously recognized and €1.9m paid in a one-time employment-tax payment the company was forced to pay as a result of emergency legislation Dutch authorities had passed. Besides being headquartered in Holland, the provider operates data centers in Amsterdam and Hilversum.

The amount of data center space generating revenue from tenants at Interxion facilities increased by 5,000 sq m in the fourth quarter and by a total of 56,200 sq m during the year. Ruberg said this was the most revenue-generating space the provider had ever added during a single quarter.

The amount of equipped data center space in Interxion's inventory increased by 4,400 sq m in the fourth quarter. During the year, the company add 11,200 sq m of space total, finishing the year off with 74,000 sq m across its property footprint.

The provider currently has 33 data centers in 11 European countries.

Interxion's full-year 2013 revenue guidance was €307m-322m. The company said it was expecting to spend between €130m and €150m in capital during the year.
