Interxion, a leading provider of premium carrier-neutral data center and managed services in Europe, has announced that it is to expand its Brussels data center footprint by facilitating an additional 850 square meter of net sellable space at its current site. After expansion, the facility will have a total of 2,000 square meter of net raised floor, which can be further expanded to up to 5,400 square meter. The new space will be available for customer installations in July 2007.
To support its current and future data center expansions in Brussels, Interxion has also built a new power station at its current facility. Feeding directly off the grid, the plant has a 5MW capacity, though only 3.75MW will initially be used.

Interxion has already negotiated a contract for a future 10MVA from the local utility Electrabel. Unlike other areas which are facing power restraints, Belgium is able to supply power to high-density customers.
The upgrade will enable Interxion to deliver new raised floor and power to its customers as and when required.
"In a drive to meet increasing customer demand, Interxion is expanding its Brussels data center, which is one phase of its overall 8,000 square meter, EUR 50M expansion plan. The plan also includes facility expansions in London, Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Vienna, said Anthony Foy, group managing director of Interxion.
