Intelligent Decisions, an Ashburn, Va.-based systems integrator, announced Monday that it had completed a data center relocation project for the FBI. ID helped the bureau move its Fort Monmouth Information Technology Center from New Jersey to an undisclosed location on the West Coast. The project also involved renovating the data center, according to an ID statement.

"ID is very excited to have been given the opportunity to display our creative, IT solutions capabilities on such a highly sensitive national security project," Mark Whitty, senior director of professional services for ID, said in a statement. "It was a very unique project with many variables, so we came up with the idea to use both aircraft and ground vehicles to safely and securely move the equipment to its new home."

FBI required ID to move the data center between President Barack Obama's inauguration in January and the NFL Super Bowl on Feb. 1. The bureau's downtime ceiling was seven days and ID said it was able to de-install, transported, reinstall test and certify the IT equipment in five days.

The new data center is housed on 15,000 square feet in a government-owned facility on the West Coast. As a general contractor, ID replaced HVAC and UPS units, as well as flooring, ceilings, walls and the fire protection system.
