Infra Fiber Teknologi (IFT), the digital infrastructure spin-off of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, has announced the launch of an AI-powered digital infrastructure platform.

Dubbed "RAIA Grid," the platform aims to establish Indonesia's "digital highway."

It comes after Indonesian telco Indosat spun off its fiber business last month to create IFT as an independent fiber infrastructure platform along with Indonesian investment firm Arsari Group.

The company operates more than 86,000km (53,437 miles) of fiber infrastructure across Indonesia. This is made up of backbone, domestic subsea, and access networks, as an independently governed, open-access platform.

IFT will leverage its existing infrastructure as part of its RAIA Grid project.

IFT's RAIA Grid will embed Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Agentic AI into how its infrastructure is planned, deployed, and operated, which the company notes makes it "an AI-powered infrastructure platform by design."

These features will enable the company to "support intelligent network planning and demand forecasting, optimize fiber routes and investment decisions, accelerate deployment through automation, and enable predictive maintenance and more autonomous network operations."

According to IFT, its RAIA Grid platform is designed to support connectivity for 5G, fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), and data center-to-data center (DC-to-DC) connections.

RAIA Grid is an open-access model that will serve telcos, data centers, cloud providers, hyperscalers, and enterprises to create infrastructure pathways that allow data and digital services to move efficiently across the country.

Vikram Sinha, CEO, Indosat, added that the RAIA Grid project ties into the company's Zankore by Indosat data center play, which was announced last month.

The carrier has paired with the wider Ooredoo Group, Nokia, and Nvidia to launch Zankore by Indosat as it aims to deploy up to 1GW of AI data center capacity.
