A key milestone in Tata's $430 million plan for growth in the region
India's Tata Communications has opened a new exchange in Tai Seng, Singapore, it says will help it meet the rising demand being seen in the Asia Pacific region.
The $180 million six-storey facility, which features 66,000 sq feet of data center space, is part of a larger $430 million plan by Tata Communications to grow its presence in the region.
The Tata Communications Exchange will provide managed services, data-center colocation and network colocation as well as provide access to cloud computing through Tata Communications' support and managed hosting and storage services.
It will be integrated into Tata's Tier-1 IP connection, which extends to Europe, North America, Africa and the rest of Asia.
The center itself has been designed with contiguous data center floors, air-cooled chillers, variable speed air conditioning units and uses a diesel rotary UPS to help it conserve energy.
