India's leading telecommunications provider has announced it is to implement a national programme of data center builds to help expand its customer base and deliver more telecom services. The cost of the project is estimated to be Rs 522.95 crore.
To achieve this end, BSNL has undertaken a wide-scale project develop integrated customer management data centers in each zone of India.
In the first phase, data centers will be built in Kolkata in the east and Hyderabad in the south. The Kolkata facility will act as a billing center for all corporate activity, and will be pan-Indian in its coverage. In the second phase, data centers in the west and north will be built.
The project will help BSNL to bill its customers of an entire region from one location and club all BSNL services into one bill.
"BSNL tariff policies and promotional schemes would be rolled out throughout the country at the same time, online billing and accounting system for revenue reconciliation on daily basis and customer data mining of a customer are among advantages to us, Calcutta Telephones chief general manager SK Chakravarty said.
