The City of Manchester is facing a growing power shortage which threatens to curb the city's growth and deter companies from locating to the area.
Concerned by the economic consequences of being unable to meet the energy needs of companies, the economic development agency for Greater Manchester, Manchester Enterprises has been commissioned by the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA) to analyze the health of city's power infrastructure.
It is believed that the concerns relate to the distribution network which has regularly been under-funded and has been unable to satisfy demand. Manchester Enterprises says its report will be completed in the coming months.
The area is home to many datacenter operators including Teledata, UKFast, Telecity Group and The Server Hotel amongst others.
