The UK's NHS (National Health Service) has been warned it could suffer an  attack on its network security.

Hacker group Lulzsec posted a comment on its Twitter page claiming that months ago it had obtained administration passwords for the NHS network.

"We're now emailing NHS and informing them of those admin passwords we took months ago," Lulzsec said in its Twitter posting.

London ambulance computing systems go down
London's ambulance service staff had to work without computing systems on June 8 after a new implementation for its 999 system did not work. A review is now being held into the failure.

"We brought in a new 999 call taking system overnight, which developed some technical issues during the course of the morning," the ambulance service said.

"We made a decision to switch to using our . . .manual system of recording calls on paper and passing information to ambulance crews over the radio while we resolve the issues."
Systems were back up and running the next day.

Hospitals turn to managed services
A growing number of hospitals in the US are turning to managed services, according to HMS Direct.

As a result, it is expanding its data center to further accommodate demand for clinical, financial and information systems outsourcing.

HMS is moving its hosted data center infrastructure into Peak 10's data center in Nashville to cater for anticipated growth.

Tech companies help combat Malaria using the Cloud
Technology companies are banding together to help Botswana prevent malaria outbreaks, using the Cloud.

HP, Clinton Health Access Initiative and mobile network provider MASCOM are providing health workers with HP Palm Pre 2 smartphones that can be used to collect data on the disease, along with GPS coordinates.

Eventually a map will be formed of Malaria hotspots, allowing for extra resources to be allocated where required.

Catalyst goes with Equinix
Catalyst health Solutions ÔÇô a company that offers national pharmacy benefit management services in the US ÔÇô is hosting its critical business functions with Equinix.

It said Equinix's ecosystem of partners means it will be able to quickly expand its footprint in new markets while meeting the US's strict compliance rules.
