Telx, a colocation and interconnection provider, has extended its Ethernet exchange services to data centers in Miami Dallas and Los Angeles. The service has previously been available at the company's facilities in New York, Chicago, Atlanta and San Francisco.

Both Telx and one of its biggest competitors Equinix launched Ethernet exchange services in their data centers last year. The companies have been looking to capitalize on Ethernet's growing ubiquity.

Aaron Blazar, VP of the consulting firm Atlantic-ACM, cited results of a survey his firm conducted, which showed that buyers of metro wholesale services expected to increase spending on Ethernet by 19% within the next year.

CENX to operate carrier Ethernet exchanges in CoreSite data centers
Colocation provider CoreSite has entered into an agreement with CENX, operator of carrier Ethernet exchanges, whereby CENX will offer its Ethernet exchange services in CoreSite data centers.

The deal expands CENX's reach into new markets, including Silicon Valley, Boston, Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. It also gives the Ethernet exchange operator reach to new sites in markets where it already has presence, including Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami and New York.

CENX Ethernet exchanges currently offer access to more than 15m Ethernet service locations. CoreSite expects CENX services to be available to all of its 600-plus data center customers.

zColo adds Ethernet and other interconnection services in three locations
Colocation and interconnection service provider zColo, subsidiary of Zayo Group, is planning to expand its interconnection service to enable Ethernet, DS1, DS3d and Fiber/OCN connectivity in its data centers located in two major New York carrier hotels and one facility in New Jersey.

The New York sites are at Google-owned 111 8th Ave. and at 60 Hudson St. zColo is the exclusive operator of the latter building's meet-me room. The third site is at 165 Halsey St. in Newark, New Jersey.

Last week, zColo announced an expansion of its data center infrastructure into five new markets. The company is adding a total of more than 46,000 sq ft of colocation space in Minnesota, Ohio and Tennessee.
