Australian data center operator NextDC said it has entered an agreement to purchase a new data center site in North Sydney. A contract is expected to be signed in the next week. Next DC also announced it has approval to start construction work on its data center in Port Melbourne, Victoria.
Fusion-i/o files for IPO
Fusion-io, an enterprise storage company that counts Facebook as its largest customer, has filed for an initial public offering. The privately owned company is using Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley as joint book runners for the IPO, in which it hopes to earn US$150m. Fusion I/O already has one big name investor ÔÇô Michael Dell and Dell is an OEM for the company.
NextDC takes on ex Telstra executive
Former Telstra and Fujitsu Australia executive Ted Pretty will start working as NextDC's executive Deputy Chairman in April this year. Pretty previously worked as Fujitsu Australia's chairman and as Telstra's group managing director for retail and consumer divisions.
APC names new Central and North East Africa Region
APC has named a new director for its Central and North East Africa Region. Jonathan Duncan has spent 15 years focussing on uninterruptible power supply and the power sector for the company as well as data center design. He will be based in Cairo, Egypt where he will build up APC's InfraStruXure business in North East, East and West Africa.
