Superior Essex has added a multimode fiber design option to its entire Dri-Lite Loose tube cable line, which uses absorbent yarns that well when contact is made with water to stop water from hitting the cable.

Cables in fiber counts from 12 to 288 are offered through as part of Dri-Lite.

Superior Essex recently broke ground on a new power cable manufacturing facility in North Carolina. It hopes the plant will allow it to further expand its brand offering in the US.

IBM certifies Force10 Networks cards
Force10 Networks' ExaScale E-Series 40GbE line card has been certified to operate with IBM's iDataPlex servers and clusters and Intelligent Cluster BOM Components.

The line card will allow IT mangers to use IBM clustering technology with up to 56 ports of 40GbE connectivity.

Force10 also recently signed with Avnet Technology Solutions to extend distribution of it high performance networking solutions to Europe and the Middle East.

Its Open Cloud Networking framework is based on open architectures and open automation and ecosystems for the optimization of data center network performance and efficiency.

Transition Networks releases eight-port switch
Transition Networks has released an eight-port all fiber managed switch with dual speeds for small form factor pluggable cable slots, each configurable with 100Base or 1000Base SFP Transceivers.

The switch supports SSH, SSL and TACACS+ and can encrypt HTTP traffic by allowing secure access to the web-based management GUI of the switch.

Chelsio attacks latency with software
Chelsio Communications has launched its WireDirect technology which consist of software modules that can enable direct wire access from user space to its T4 network adapter, bypassing the kernel for ultra-low, 3 microsecond latency over 10GbE for high frequency trading.

It said its products aim to overcome inefficiencies seen in the network by magnifying the traffic with the shortest delays possible.
