AGIMO ÔÇô the Australian Government Information Management Office ÔÇô has set up a whole-of-government panel for government agencies looking to purchase telecommunications products and services.

The panel includes Boeing Defence Australia, Fujitsu, Bridge IT Engineering, Consultel IT&T, NEC, Optus and Telstra. It will be in place for three years and companies that are part of it can apply for an extension of two years. AGIMO said more companies could be added to the panel in future.

The UK's Westminster council has selected Virgin Media Business for its new £190m PSN-compliant Next Generation Network that will be used for the purchase of phone, data and video CCTV and wi-fi services.

The agreement means any public sector organization in the council can use the framework, designed to simplify procurement and standardize the government's use of technology.
