US Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers arrested two workers who were driving dump trucks headed to Meta’s construction site in Richland Parish, Louisiana.

Unmarked vehicles arrived at the perimeter of the construction site in Holly Ridge on Wednesday, Bloomberg reports.

"ICE agents assisted the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office with traffic stops involving dump trucks traveling to the Meta site," the sheriff's office said on Facebook.

"During those stops, two drivers were arrested by ICE due to their immigration status. The individuals were from Guatemala and Honduras."

The status and nationality of the individuals have not been independently verified. ICE has been known to incorrectly arrest citizens or dual nationals, including a May 2025 arrest of a US-born construction worker, Garcia Venegas.

The sheriff's office added: "ICE did not enter the Meta site at any time."

ICE's presence was requested by local law enforcement. Meta declined to comment.

The Department of Homeland Security has increased raids on construction sites and factories as part of a broader crackdown on illegal immigration. Last September, law enforcement raided the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America, detaining more than 300 Korean workers.

Some of the workers were on visa waivers, while at least one was on a valid B1/B2 working visa and had not violated it. Their departure from the US was delayed one day by US President Trump to allow workers to decide whether to stay. One did.

ICE operations have also ramped up in cities across the country, leading to protests and clashes. Earlier this month, American citizen Renee Good was fatally shot by an ICE agent.
