IBM has signed an agreement with Telkom Indonesia to build a data center together and provide data center operations services in the country. This collaboration combines data center services and telecommunications.

 

There is a special design challenge for data centers in Indonesia, which has frequent earthquakes and tropical storms. These risks have to be considered when designing resiliency measures into mission-critical infrastructure.

 

“We chose IBM as our strategic partner due to its proven capability of designing, building, and operating the most advanced data centers,” Arief Yahya, predident and director of Telkom, said. “IBM’s comprehensive suite of data center offerings will help companies in the region improve efficiency, scale up easily, and harness new opportunities.”

 

Telkom is completing a broadband network across Indonesia, designed to improve data center services for enterprises. The company has about 200m customers.

 

Suryo Suwignjo, president and director of IBM Indonesia, sad the deal brought together the best of both worlds in IT and communications. “With IBM’s extensive capabilities in data center capacity, combined with Telkom’s experience and understanding of local business needs, we will be able to provide our clients with a superior experience.”
