No details about the facility had been disclosed, except for its location in the City of Columbia.
The facility is expected to potentially create up to 800 jobs in central Missouri, which would make it one of the largest employers in Boone County, where Columbia is located.
The company was reportedly offered more than $28 million in tax incentives to build the facility in Missouri.
The state is aggressively pursuing a strategy of attracting data centers.
Legislation that will create more tax breaks for companies that choose to build there, sales tax exemptions for providers of utility-type services to data centers and for rental of equipment and material used to build them and reductions in property tax for IT gear, is moving through both houses of the state legislature in the form of four bills.
The announcement comes less than four months after IBM announced opening of its latest data center in North Carolina. IBM adds from three to five data centers to its infrastructure every year.
