Colocation and Ipv6-native Internet backbone provider Hurricane Electric has expanded its network with a new Point-of-Presence (PoP) at the Interxion Madrid data center.

Mike Leber, HE's president, said, “Hurricane Electric is excited to expand its network in Madrid with Interxion. Hurricane Electric continues to strategically expand its network throughout the globe and will be making additional announcements in the coming months.”

The PoP will expand access through 10 Gigabit Ethernet, 1 GigE and 100 BaseT network connections and will reduce latency and router hops for Interxion traffic, HE said. This expansion – HE's fifth global expansion in less than a year – will enable the company to improve fault tolerance, load balancing and congestion management in its IP connectivity services.

The services include transit of next-generation IPv6 traffic, as well as IPv4. Additionally, the expansion will give Interxion customers access to HE’s global network.

HE owns and operates two data centers in the Silicon Valley.
