HP has launched a collection of products and services which will see it integrate its software portfolio into its Technology Consulting divsion, extend services to rival x86 based servers and cover all the major virtualisation hypervisors.

The latest services and products portfolio is based around 'unlocking innovation gridlock' 'building competitive advantage and the cost of doing nothing' 'application optimized cloud' 'self funding' 'new systems admin products' 'new servers' and 'new consulting services'

Additions to the services on offer include support for all leading hypervisors, Citrix XenServer, Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware and an assessment service for virtualised environments.

Like others, noticeably, EMC which is using essentially the same figures to push customers towards private clouds, HP is basing its strategy on inverting the current investment paradigm in which IT cost is split 70/30 between operating and maintaining existing infrastructure and investment in innovation.

Hp's approach is part of its Technology Consulting division push which according to one source will see the firm employ another 1,000 consultants over the next year.

The Technology Consulting division covers services on servers, storage and networking and the push to finance the moderisation of data center infrastructure is part of the company's converged infrastructure message.

HP sees an opportunity to offer funding through loans, asset buyback and sale and lease back options.

The funding options include potential for Hp to buy back existing IT - such as ageing Mainframes,(hp already has a 'mainframe alternative' offer) - the proceeds of which can then be invested in new Hp kit.

Some clients are being offered a free consultation process billed as a 'hands-on HP applications moderisation transformation experience.'

Basically the firm will do a walk through of existing set ups offer new products which they say can deliver pay back in operating costs in as little as two months.

At the strategic level HP is promoting its Cloud Service Automation solution to restructure IT for private or public clouds.
