The Austin data center operated by managed services company Hostway went offline for about one hour on Thursday morning as a result of a power outage.

On its network-status feed the company posted that around 10:30 am CDT that the data center was experiencing a power outage that was affecting multiple servers. The updates did not elaborate on the cause or scope of the downtime.

About one hour after the update announcing the outage, the company said the data center was running on generator, but issues persisted. "At this time, it is on and running," the update read. "However, the reason for the servers still being offline has something to do with the electrical lines feeding the network room where downed servers are located."

Some servers started coming back online around 11:40 am.

Hostway's Austin data center has two data halls, totaling more than 77,000 sq ft. The company says on its website that power is fed to the facility from three separate utility substations.

One hall is backed up by a 1.25MW generator and the second one is backed up by a 2MW generator.

Chicago-based Hostway provides managed hosting, colocation, cloud hosting, content delivery network services and other products. In addition to the Austin facility, it has data centers in Tampa, Chicago and Vancouver.
