Jumping on the wagon of data center monitoring solutions for both physical and virtual IT infrastructure, Hitachi Data Systems released the 2.0 version of its IT Operations Analyzer. Targeted at mid-size enterprises, the solution provides availability and performance monitoring of servers, network switches and storage arrays through a single interface. It also has a troubleshooting feature that performs diagnosis of IT systems during outages.

The new release includes enhanced support for virtualized-infrastructure monitoring, including Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware vSphere virtualization platforms. HDS has also expanded the amount of devices the system can monitor to 750 nodes. Other new features include support for Hitachi's Universal Storage Platform VM, SUSE Linux, Extreme, Cisco ISR, Linksys/Cisco and Entrasys.

The vendor says its patent-pending root-cause analysis feature enables reduction of the 'mean time to diagnose' (MTTD) of causes of IT system outages by up to 90 percent.

HDS is a subsidiary of Tokyo-based Hitachi - a global electronics company with annual revenue of more than US$100bn.
