The investment firm’s new venture, Helix Digital Infrastructure, will reportedly have a budget of more than $10 billion to develop and manage assets that underpin AI systems.

As well as data centers, these could include power and networking assets, according to a report from Bloomberg, which cites sources familiar with KKR’s plans.

A range of institutional backers, including a sovereign wealth fund and other strategic partners, have already committed to backing the company, the Bloomberg report said.

Selipsky, a senior advisor to KKR since September 2025, is set to lead Helix Digital Infrastructure as CEO. He was chief executive at AWS, Amazon’s cloud platform, from 2021-2024, and prior to that served as CEO at business intelligence software firm Tableau for five years.

DCD has approached KKR for comment on the report.

KKR owns data center operator CyrusOne alongside BlackRock-owned GIP, and is backing European operator GTR.

It acquired a 20 percent stake in Singtel’s data center business for $800m in 2023 and is reportedly in talks to secure a larger stake. It also owns liquid cooling company CoolIT alongside Mubadala, but in March was reported to be looking at options to divest the company.
