Taiwan's Zettabyte, a GPU Infrastructure-as-a-Service provider, has completed a funding round led by Lam Capital.

Lam Capital is the venture arm of Lam Research Corp., a global supplier of wafer fabrication equipment and services.

The value of the funding round was not shared, but it also saw participation from Wistron, Foxconn, and Pegatron.

"Zettabyte operates at the intersection of two megatrends: AI and infrastructure," said Kevin Chen, managing director at Lam Capital. "This investment highlights the importance of supporting the advancement of next-generation AI data center infrastructure solutions to enable the next wave of innovation across the semiconductor ecosystem."

"We are honored to welcome Lam Capital as a strategic investor," added Kenneth Tai, chairman of Zettabyte. "Their support validates our mission to reimagine AI infrastructure from the ground up—merging performance, efficiency, and sovereignty in a unified platform."

Zettabyte's Zware cloud platform is described by the company as a turnkey liquid-cooled GPU cloud infrastructure as a service that "unifies" the AI infrastructure software stack, from networking to full cluster management.

The company offers access to Nvidia H100s, A100s, and the RTX A6000.

According to the company, the funding round will be used to support its global expansion efforts and for the development of Zsuite - an offering designed to reduce total cost of ownership for enterprise and public sector customers.

In August 2024, Zettabyte was said to be working on an AI data center in Taiwan in partnership with Wistron Corporation. Details, including timelines, location, or facility specifications, weren’t shared. No updates on the data center have since been provided.

Little information about Zettabyte is available online beyond its website. Its chairman, Kenneth Tai, may be the same Kenneth who is on the board of directors at Chinese data center firm Vnet (formerly 21Vianet).
