The vice president of global infrastructure and capacity at hyperscale giant Google has left the company.

Bikash Koley spent more than 16 years at the company, across two tenures, but is leaving to join the Blackstone-Google joint venture, Crux AI.

Crux is a neocloud set to use Google's TPU chips, run by former Google VP of engineering Benjamin Treynor Sloss. Last month, the new business hired the VP and head of data center engineering and construction at Meta, Alan Duong.

Koley has been named chief technology and product officer at Crux, which plans to bring 500MW of capacity online in 2027, and quickly scale to 2GW.

"From laying the groundwork for a resilient global fabric, to pushing the envelope on modern consumable infrastructure, none of it would have been possible without the relentless curiosity, execution rigor, and unwavering commitment of the Google infrastructure teams to keeping the packets forwarding, the tokens serving, and the queries flowing," Koley said on LinkedIn.

"The pursuit to engineer and scale next-generation infrastructure continues, and I am thrilled to partner once again with Benjamin Treynor Sloss to tackle what comes next."

As well as his time at Google, Koley was previously the CTO and EVP of Juniper Networks, founder and CTO of Qstreams Networks, and lead engineer at Ciena.
