Google plans to add two more cloud regions in the US over the next year.
The company announced that it would add cloud regions in Columbus, Ohio; and Dallas, Texas.
"These new US regions will bring our services even closer to existing customers such as J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc., which is implementing Google Cloud solutions to help create the most efficient transportation network in North America," Google Cloud GM and VP of product for IaaS, Sachin Gupta, in a blog post.
In the same post, the company reiterated expansion plans to build in Berlin-Brandenburg, Germany; Tel Aviv, Israel; and Dammam, Saudi Arabia. It also said that it had recently opened its region in Santiago, Chile.
The company currently operates 29 cloud regions and 88 zones, after opening regions in Warsaw (Poland), Delhi NCR (India), Melbourne (Australia), and Toronto (Canada), this year.
This July, Google Cloud posted revenues of $4.6bn, up 54 percent year-on-year. It went from a loss of $1.4bn last year to $591 million this quarter. In Q1 of this year GCP lost $974m against $4bn revenue.
"Across Cloud, we will continue to invest aggressively, given the opportunity we see," CFO Ruth Porat said at the time.
