Google is planning to develop a data center campus on 390 acres of land near Monrovia, Indiana.

The Morgan County Economic Development Corporation confirmed that Google is behind the plans earlier this week, as per a report from Fox59, with initial applications suggesting up to five buildings could be developed on the site.

An application for the project was submitted earlier this year for land located in Morgan Township, east of Monrovia, between Keller Hill Road, North Antioch Road, Indiana 42, and West Union Church Road. It encompasses 18 parcels owned by 10 different entities.

Of the five buildings proposed, four seem to be large data centers, and the fifth is a smaller building east of the electrical transmission line.

“We are always planning for future capacity needs, which includes evaluating options to expand our data center presence in markets across the US,” Google data center public affairs manager Broderick Green wrote in a statement. “In Indiana, we can confirm we are exploring a potential development in Morgan County, Indiana. We appreciate the collaboration with both Morgan County and state leadership as we evaluate the opportunity together.”

The project was approved for rezoning in late September.

“We are enthusiastic about the partnership we are building with Google,” added Morgan County Economic Development Corporation member Mike Dellinger. “A project of this magnitude presents the opportunity to bring jobs and needed investment for our schools and critical county services without raising taxes on our residents.  We are committed to working hand-in-hand with Google to support a clean, modern industry that will help drive our future economy.

Google is also developing a campus in Fort Wayne, Indiana, having purchased 900 acres and committed around $2bn to the project in 2024. This was expanded in September 2025.

The cloud company was also previously looking to develop in Franklin Township, near Indianapolis, but withdrew the application, also in September, due to local response.

Morgan County is located to the southwest of Indianapolis, Indiana's main data center market. The state has other hubs in South Bend and Fort Wayne.
