Frontline Data Services announced a new partnership with Lightower Fiber Networks, allowing Frontline to extend its low-latency network link from its data center in Orangeburg, New York, to a major financial-services center in Mahwah, New Jersey.
The company did not say which Mahwah data center it would connect to exactly, but the town is known for being home to a new data center built by NYSE Euronext, one of the world’s largest and most well-known financial-services companies.
Frontline’s colocation data center is located within a 10 mile radius from the Mahwah facility, which means a data roundtrip will take 568 Microseconds for dedicated Gigabit Ethernet service. Frontline is targeting the financial-services industry with this link, promising significant savings.
Lightower is offering diverse points of entry, geographically diverse laterals and geographically diverse routes to the Mahwah facility. The company will offer a complete suite of solutions from the Frontline Data Services facilitym including dark fiber, Ethernet and wavelengths up to 100G, low-latency solutions and private networking.
Howard Andrews, Frontline president, said, “Frontline can now offer a colocation solution at a fraction of the cost of physically locating servers in the Mahwah, New Jersey, data center. With its close proximity and ultra-low-latency link to the Mahwah data center, Frontline can provide the colocation cabinets, power, cooling, cross-connects and connectivity businesses require without the restrictions or high costs that come with housing equipment in the Mahwah facility.”
Frontline COO Nick Feinberg said, “Having the ability to successfully execute financial transactions in the fastest time possible can mean the difference between millions of dollars earned or lost on a daily basis.” He was referring to companies doing high-frequency trading on stock exchanges.
