Freshwave has deployed its 4G network across Leeds Bradford Airport’s (LBA) refurbished terminal and newly-opened extension.

The UK's mobile operators will be able to connect to the 4G network to provide connectivity to their respective customers at the airport.

The Infrastructure-as-a-Service provider has been offering 4G via its Omni Network. According to Freshwave, its Omni Network has been rolled out as an ongoing managed service.

Leeds Bradford Airport is Yorkshire's primary airport and serves 80 destinations. The network upgrades are part of the airport's regeneration program, which is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027.

Freshwave notes that it has connected 85,000 sq ft (7,900 sqm) across three floors of the recently opened terminal extension, delivered as part of Phase I of the LBA: Regen program. The company said the 4G connectivity covers baggage reclaim, new food and beverage areas, and retail outlets, including World Duty Free.

The company has also bolstered airport staff communication after enabling the Push-To-Talk over Cellular (PTToC) radio service to use the 4G network.

Freshwave said that its Omni Network is fully scalable and will be deployed across another 44,000 sq ft (4,090 sqm) of the terminal’s extension in the near future.
