French IT services provider Xefi has acquired a new data center.
The Lyon-based firm has purchased the HDC34 facility in Montpellier, a city in the Occitania region of southern France, according to a report in Le Journal des Enterprises.
Update: Xefi has since confirmed the acquisition.
Nexeren, Xefi’s colo data center subsidiary, will operate the 91 sqm (979 sq ft) facility, located on Rue de la Sarriette. It will be the company’s sixth data center in the region.
HDC34 previously operated as an independent company. Its website describes the data center as a Tier III+ facility. The purchase price has not been disclosed.
Speaking to Le Journal des Enterprises, Sacha Rosenthal, chairman and CEO of Xefi, said: "We have chosen to invest in our own infrastructure to guarantee our customers a local, reliable, secure, and 100 percent French cloud.
“We reaffirm our commitment to offering a sovereign alternative to the cloud giants, by placing data control and transparency at the heart of our model."
Xefi provides IT services aimed primarily at small businesses. The company’s revenue for 2024 was €390 million ($458m). According to a LinkedIn post from earlier this year, its Nexeren data centers (previously SHD) host workloads for 11,000 clients.
