Keeping Vietnamese data in Vietnam

FPT is developing its own cloud platform, which the company says will allow domestic businesses to operate without fear of sending data abroad. The new data center is key to achieving the necessary infrastructural capacity to run a cloud platform, the company said.

Attending the groundbreaking ceremony, FPT’s chairman Hoang Nam Tien, said (translated): "We believe that Vietnam's largest data center will help Vietnam's data to stay in Vietnam without storing it overseas.

“To meet the needs and boost the market FPT Telecom has invested and launched cloud services and new data centers that can support organizations and businesses in the transition of infrastructure, applications, management, and information security."

When is it up?

During the ceremony, Nguyen Thanh Vinh, the CEO of Delta Group, a construction firm tasked with building the data center, said he was “confident that this is not only a quality project… but also will be completed on schedule." The building project is expected to be completed in Q1 2021.

FPT Telecom currently has two large-scale data centers and is expected to open two new data centers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, capable of supporting 1,250 racks and 1,000 racks in their first phase, respectively.
